Rita Sengupta is a writer and actor, based out of Washington D.C.

 

She wrote and starred in I’m Dead Right, a short dark comedy featuring Sakina Jaffrey that screened at six festivals across the globe.

 

Her essay, "Coming Out Again (and Again)" was published in Brown Girl Magazine's print anthology, Untold: Defining Moments of the Uprooted. The collection includes 30 creative nonfiction stories and was featured in Vogue and Cosmopolitan for best LGBTQ books in 2021.

 

TV credits include Law & Order: SVU (NBC), FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), and Let the Right One In (Showtime).

 

Rita is currently pursuing her MFA in Nonfiction at Goucher College. She studied at Atlantic Theater Acting School and Upright Citizens Brigade. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BSBA in Finance and Marketing.
